Lucifer #55 Final Art

Although it doesn't have Lucifer in it, it's the first of my covers that I thought captured the "feel" of the Lucifer Comic Book... once I worked out the perspectives on those gearing wheels, and added in all the little souls, I thought my work was over. Then came the painting and adjusting of the tones... eventually I began to understand one element of Hell: since everything is balanced in the drawing, the color and tone and value had to be balanced as well, so any little additional touch on one part of The Wheel meant additional and equal touches all over the piece. In the end I was VERY happy that Rudd was wearing a white shirt!
